Performance
Laguna puts the claimed number for this collector at 1200 CFM, the same box figure Oneida quotes for its comparable two-stage unit. Work in a normal duct run and the cyclone stage's own pressure drop, and the figure for what actually reaches the tool comes out to around 485 CFM. Two cyclone collectors can share an identical claimed number and still land at different delivered numbers once cone geometry and impeller design enter the picture, which is exactly what the figure here suggests.
Measured static pressure of 5.2 in. w.c. sits just under Oneida's figure but well above any single-stage canister collector, again the cost of running debris through a cyclone before the filter ever sees it. Fine dust capture comes in at a measured 99.3 percent, a hair behind Oneida but still well ahead of every canister-only unit in this size class. At a measured 84.2 dBA at 8 feet, it's a touch quieter than Oneida's figure too, though still squarely in loud-shop-tool territory.
Build quality and setup
The spec sheet points to a 36 gallon capacity and a cabinet that Laguna markets specifically as a compact profile among two-stage cyclones, worth noting if ceiling height or a tight corner is what's been keeping you out of the cyclone category. Two-stage collectors in this class generally arrive with the cyclone cone and drum shipped apart from the motor and filter housing, and published setup times across similar compact cyclones tend to land around 1 to 1.5 hours for a first-time assembly.
