Editorial Policy
This page explains how products get chosen, tested, and ranked on this site, and where the line is drawn between what pays for this site and what it recommends.
How products are selected
Products are chosen for testing based on what real shops actually buy and what readers ask about, not based on which brand offers the best commission. A collector that pays no affiliate commission at all is tested and recommended the same as one that does, if it earns it.
Purchases and review units
Units are bought at retail whenever the budget allows. When a manufacturer provides a unit free of charge, that is stated plainly at the top of that specific review. A free unit does not buy a favorable verdict, and it does not skip the standard test protocol described on the How I Test page.
Rankings and picks
A "top pick" is chosen from the measured results, not from which option pays the highest commission. Where two products perform similarly, that is stated honestly rather than manufactured into an artificial winner.
Updates and corrections
Reviews are re-checked periodically, not published once and abandoned. If a measurement was wrong, or a product changed materially between model years, the page is corrected and the correction is dated. Readers can report a suspected error via the contact page.
How this site makes money
Primarily through affiliate commissions on products purchased through links on this site, and secondarily through display advertising once traffic supports it. Full detail on the affiliate disclosure page.
